I'm the gay guy on the team.I have been playing ice hockey since I was about four years old. It is a huge passion of mine. I wanted to be a professional player since I was seven years of age.Now I am eighteen and I was just outed by a guy I thought I could trust. He has been a great friend and said the secret would be safe. I have secretly had a boyfriend for two years, but now everyone knows.My team is not talking to me. I am closeted to family and friends, still, as I haven't acknowledged it, but none of the team is talking to me.It's going to be rough. But now I know I can have my boyfriend come to my game and not be known as a cousin. Yeah, that was weird. But they believed it!Since I was fourteen I had this funny idea that maybe I could be the first openly gay ice hockey player in the NHL. Maybe one day that will happen!
