Scared Silly

Some background: I am 23, in the closet, and terrified to tell my mom from fear of being kicked out of the house until I find work (have a degree in chem E and actively looking). Basically everyone I've ever met has already assumed I'm gay, but I hadn't accepted it until about 4 months ago. What has me so scared is that I am still a virgin (only had a girlfriend about 5 years ago for 1 year, we didn't do anything) and haven't dated in so long. What is your advice on getting started as a gay guy?
