Ignoring best friend
So like most closeted gay guys, I've fell for my best friend. He is clearly straight as evident through his girlfriend and has openly talked about his opinion on gay marriage (not good). I know I'll never have him and it just wont work. I've started to distance myself, not talking to him, 1 word answers when we have to talk, and just in general have made a point that I'm trying to stay away from him. I don't really know what to do. I can't tell him I love him, or that I'm gay. But at the same time he thinks I'm mad at him, when I'm not. There's really no way for me to explain why I'm ignoring him without telling him the truth, which I am certainly not ready for. I think that telling him that I love him would just cause so much awkwardness our friendship would collapse anyways. I don't know how to respond on Monday when I continue to ignore him and he asks why I'm mad at him. Does anyone have any past experience or advice? I seriously am lost and I don't know what to do.
