Why do most gay men have an affection with taking drugs ?

It's pretty straight-forward , I've been in two let's call them 'serious' relationships and both guys have used drugs. I've smoked weed and hash (I live in Amsterdam duh!) but I see absolutely no appeal in taking magic mushrooms , truffles or other light or hard stuff. However I see a very linear relation between gay men and drug use. I'd like to know people's opinion on this , do you think it's a way to escape reality , it "eases" the mind or gay people have a tendency to have more fun ?Edit: I also am not a regular weed or hash user , I've had my periods where I've used some but never regularly.
