Dating someone who is in the CLOSET

Hey, I'm a 20 year old college student and I recently met a cute guy. The issue is that he is in the closet and I'm completely out. He only DMs me and when we see each other and at the university he ignores me. We've only had one official date and was so much fun but after that he just hides. I'm a little bit frustrated because my last relationships didn't work because of the same issue, he was out to his friends but still in the closet to his family, despite that it lasted 11 months. Would you date someone who is in the closet? Do you have any advice?
