About all this cornerback talk..

I been seeing a lot of steelers fans lately crying for us to use our first pick on a cornerback (which is stupid imo). We desperately need a pass rush, we need to draft a solid EDGE rusher who is going to get to the QB. The Chiefs game is a great example of how a decent pass rush takes off our Defensive Backs. Worilds did not produce this year and probably should walk unless he comes back cheap. The verdict is still out on Jarvis (I'm not giving up on him yet) but I haven't been impressed when he has been out there. Take a look at this little spreadsheet I put together poorly

Just chose some CB's to look at and where they were drafted, you can get value in the later rounds. 24% of these were 5th round and later or undrafted. The steelers make their living in the later rounds of the draft, have faith in our ability to evaluate underrated guys. There is no Patrick Peterson/Darrelle Revis type talent in this draft; and if there were it wouldn't fall to us. lucky for us, both EDGE rushers and DBs are probably the 2 deepest positions in this draft. Furthermore, If cortez can come back and be a contributor around his previous form, him and Gay would be solid for us! and who knows what shamarko's contribution next year will be (maybe pretty good? can it be worse than troy this year?). We have always asked our DB's to bend, don't break. However, When we can't get to the quarterback it's too much to ask. The steelers play their best defense when we are rushing the passer, It fires up the team and helps our mediocre secondary. So to those of you who want a DB in the first round, I ask that you trust in the steelers and consider its probably not the best option for us going towards the future.

TL;DR we don't need to draft DB in 1st, better value at EDGE, secondary can be picked in later rounds.

P.S. Some edge guys who MIGHT be there that I like are.. Dante Fowler Jr, Hau'oli Kikaha, Alvin Dupree, Leonard Floyd, Eli Harold (this is assuming beasley, ray, and thompson are gone by our pick fowler probably won't be there either)
