Hello. I consider myself fiscally conservative (I want a balanced budget etc) and socially liberal (gay rights, civil liberties etc). And I was really motivated by Ron Paul when he ran in 2012. The libertarian movement seems like the best fit for me, but I don't call myself one, and I'll explain why.
Now, I don't post on reddit normally and I created this account to get this off my chest, so keep that in mind before you call me a concern troll etc.
I won't call myself a libertarian because then people automatically assume that I'm just your average republican. And I just with a few exceptions in both parties (Ron Paul, Mark Udal etc), they just want to use your libertarian brand and don't really give damn about you.
Whenever there is a thread here about a democrat it's always a 100% circlejerk against them. But when it comes to republicans a lot of libertarians think that they are better, they are not. Republicans love spending and taxing just as much as democrats do, just on different things. So please, can we try to critique both parties instead of just being another branch of the republican party?
