I am straight and kissed my gay friend

My best friend is gay. Yesterday he came over to hang out as we usually do, but he just looked off. He was upset about something but wouldn't tell me. After a while he disappeared and I found him standing in the kitchen just staring at the wall. I went and hugged him, but before I let go I kissed him on the lips. I don't know why I did it but it seemed like the thing to do. He hasn't said anything about it but I am wondering if I did something wrong. I don't want to give him the wrong idea. I kind of believe in the old "no news is good news" thing, but should I bring it up if he doesn't?We are very close so the hug wasn't anything out of the ordinary, and sometimes we cuddle a little watching a movie or something, but before this that was it.
