A community divided
One thing I've never understood about the LGBTQ community is how we call ourselves a community, but still remain divided. I understand that everyone has their own preference or "type," but that shouldn't hinder us from coming together as a community. We complain about the rest of the world treating us poorly, but we have the same behavior within our own community. Phrases like "no fats, no fems," or "white only" (and yes, I've seen that phrase repeatedly) aren't bringing us together. We have to stop judging each other, and make our community an accepting place for all. Otherwise, we are no better than any of those who speak poorly of us. And yes, I realize that I've used the phrase "community" frequently, but that's only to emphasize what we are supposed to be.
