Dating while closeted

I'm currently an 18 year old who's currently out to maybe 5 or so friends but that's basically it. I'm in this awkward position where I don't currently feel comfortable completely outing myself, however, I feel absolutely miserable and lonely hiding in the closet. Is it possible to date from within the closet, and even if I did, how would I go about doing it?I know I'm probably not going to be getting any specific answers, I'm more just looking to vent and get advice from anyone who's potentially gone through similar circumstances.
