So attractive that nobody approaches you

I'm just wondering, is this actually a thing that attractive people experience? I'm talking about people who have been told they're attractive multiple times by different people yet never seem to be approached. My friend was explaining this to me but I just didn't understand it. Is it just that they're not as attractive as they think or are attractive people just unapproachable? How does one combat this phenomenon?
