What is the most accepting; town, city, or village to be openly gay in.

I am from a small suburb around Houston, and even though we have a gay neighborhood, and gay pride parade, in a whole I've found outside of that small bubble the openness to lgbtq is not as accepting as it could be. Which makes dating hard, even if I was in a relationship, I would feel super weird holding hands with a guy at Park. Are there any suggestions of places that have a high openness to lgbtq lifestyles, where people don't give a second glance at a gay couple buying groceries, or holding hands by the street.
