So, my science teacher said that homosexuality was " Mostly a choice"

So today in science when we were discussing genes, I asked a question I had wondered about for ages, why makes people gay, expecting a answer related to nature or nerture, but when I asked it she paused, and said " there's a lot of controversy, it's kind of a choice thing" btw I'm paraphasing. Thoughts?
