I'm sick of gay culture
Okay so I'm about sick of this shit. I'm 17 and I've known that I'm gay since I was about 11. But I am about sick of gay culture and stereotypes. Every day I see this, the overly flamboyant types, the super girly "I love shopping" types, rainbows and a heavy lisp. But here's the thing: I don't hate those people at all. I have good friends that are just like that, and I love them. I don't judge that at all. What bothers me is that I am not like that whatsoever, but EVERY time I meet someone and they find out I'm gay, it's like they see me differently. Or even if I've known someone for a long time, if they find out I'm gay the only comments I ever seem to get are "haha you're so gay" and I just do not understand it. I'm not like that at all, and I feel like as soon as anyone hears the word "gay" the only thing they're capable of doing is forcing you into their judge mental box of what they think a gay person is. Of what they think a real gay "should be."Really the most level headed response I seem to get is "oh you're gay? You don't act like it," or "I don't think you're really gay, you don't act like it."
