Do you have a reason for exclusively bottoming or topping?

I'm honestly curious as to why some people choose to only bottom or to only top. I feel like I might be a person that does equally of both depending on my partner or if I even like being penetrated at all o-O, I've never had sex myself so enlighten me! 😂
