Minority Gay People of reddit, Have you ever felt you were treated as someone else's fetish?

I was hanging out with my friends last night, and one of my white friends brought out his phone, showed to us a pic, and said, "This is the first black guy I've been with." Now this friend of mine sleeps around, so for me to hear him say this it sounded like he was counting and just recently explored a different flavor.FWIW, I'm asian/mexican mix, and I've only had gay sex once. I'm new to the gay scene and am minority too. Am I overthinking this?
