Gay in the IT world

Hey people. So, I'm relatively new to reddit. I've known about it for a while now but just never seemed all that interested in it. Well, I've read some posts over the past week and decided that it can have rather supportive and informative communities, so I elected to pose this question to my fellow redditters(?).I just started a degree in computer science at my local community college and I am recently single. So when I walk through campus or sit in class I don't worry about appraising the guys I see and wondering that "what about him" question. My dilemma is I am predominantly attracted to straight men. For a while now I figured it was just straight acting guys. I liked them for their masculinity. But recently, due to some new information brought to light, I've begun to think that I'm actually attracted to literal straight men. Yeah, I still get turned on by gay men that aren't entirely straight acting, it's not an obsession with straight guys or anything. But it seems that, without fail, every guy I start thinking about asking out has a girlfriend or mentions something that points to their obvious heterosexuality. So. This brings us to the present concern. In one of my computer classes two guys that I've been interested in have shown their hetero hand and I really have no hope for anyone else in that class. But there is this one guy that is really nice and seems to know computers a little more intrinsically than the rest. He's one of those gamer/computer geek types (with a lot more going on behind those brown eyes I'm sure) and I only know him through two classes that we have together. My question is: how do I just start to hang out with a guy like that? I'm not the best when it comes to socializing and especially when it's someone I like. Because of this strai-dar I tend to shy away from asking guys right out if they're gay or interested in getting a coffee or something. I like to play the field and just listen for anything that might give me an idea as to what way they swing. Anyway, any help with this is much appreciated. Thank you guys! I'll try and respond as quickly as possible to legit replies.
