Should I join a gay youth group?

I am a 17 year old gay male who has been out of the closet for a few years now; I'm very fontunate to have such a loving and accepting family. My main reason for wanting to join my local LGBTQQIAA group is that I know zero gay people my age, and I wanted to connect more with my local community. My biggest concern is that I am not a very sociable person (I hang out with my brother far more than anyone else), so what are your experiences? Would you recommend joining?
