Gays of reddit, in your experience, are you able to look at someone and tell if they are a top or a bottom?

What are the typical characteristics of each? My girlfriend and I are having a debate. My assumption is that the more flamboyant person in a couple would be the top, whereas she holds the opposite opinion. Just curious to settle this drunken debate! Thanks!
