What are some "hang out" ideas, to kinda test the waters?

Thinking about asking this guy to go to a concert, but I don't like of the artists in my area. What are some other excuses I can use to hang out with this guy? Or should I just pick a concert despite neither us of liking or knowing the artist as an excuse to hang out?
