Relative maybe gay, has suicidal thoughts

I have this relative. He is 21 years old. He has so much problems and his mother is very concerned and does not how to approach him. He has had suicidal thoughts and has been in some psychiatric hospital or such.There maybe speculation that he might be gay and does not how to be. There maybe some things that point to it. He has never had a girlfriend, he is always on the computer, escaping reality. He does not want to talk or even eat sometimes.I live in Estonia and being gay is kind of hard here. It's not that bad as in eastern Europe elsewhere but it's not easy either. Also in my country military service is mandatory and he has said he does not want to go, he will commit suicide before. That is not a great place for gay people to be anyway.I myself am gay too and I used to be always on the computer all the time, to not deal with my sexuality. I'm not that good with socializing with people but my question is how to approach him and how to let him know (if he is gay) that it is OK and help him somehow.
