The empath and the narcissist

I am the narcissist. I've been seeing this guy for a few months now. I love him for all the things I'm not. I don't understand what he wants with me, but he's totally in love with me, and I with him. However, I know that for him there is no good outcome in this relationship long term. I hate to give him up, and I know he will be crushed but I have just enough decency to know that I need to let him go. I've never even been close enough to an empath to understand them at all.If you are an empath and have been or could see yourself in such a situation how would you want it handled? Or have any narcissists been there and been able to change somehow and make it work?
