How can I find out if he's gay? (Probably not) Really struggling right now.

I was asked to work at a different store today due to short staffing there. Near the end of my shift, another boy showed up to help out from a different store as well. We only worked together for about 30 minutes and I didn't learn much about him but he was probably the cutest boy i've seen since I moved to this area. (area made up of a bunch of smaller resort towns)I'm not out and so as much as I wanted to I just couldn't ask him outright if he was into guys. I can't stop thinking about how cute and nice he was though. There's a 90% chance he isn't gay but god would I love to know. Any ideas on how to possibly discreetly find out?I've thought of calling the store now that i'm off and just asking to speak to him but I don't want him or others to figure out it might be me. I just feel so awkward about the idea. Another thing I thought of was finding out the number to his place of work and calling him there but who knows if I'll actually be able to reach him.Sorry, this is probably more just a rant than anything but today was a day where I was truly struggling with who I am and the frustration of not being able to just say "Hey, i don't know if you're into guys or not but you're super cute and I was wondering if you might want to grab dinner some time." Honestly, I wouldn't have even minded saying that had I known he wouldn't tell anyone and my coworkers wouldn't find out. (They're all pretty cool, nice, and seem accepting but also pretty christian and I don't want to ruin the few friendships I have since i'm new to this small town.Any general advice about these situations or support is appreciated. Otherwise I just feel i needed to post this somewhere since I have no one to talk to.
