Do any of you guys have 'that' friend?

This is gonna sound kinda convoluted, but, I have a friend, who is definitely a smart guy. Me and him like a lot of the same stuff, but for different reasons, and it occurred to me the other day when we were talking about a new episode of a show we both watch that it might be because he is a "straight white male". Now that's a metaphorical term, not literal, and what I mean by that is that I think he can't understand a lot of the stuff that causes arguments between us because he's never really felt a lot of pain in his life. I mean he has the typical: broke up with his girlfriend stuff, but other than that he lives with his parents who let him do whatever, he's popular at school, etc. And because of that he doesn't relate to a lot of the stuff I can and do relate to in shows. Like there was a character arc that he hated because it was "so predictable" and boring, but I really like it because it says something that is never said on television, the thought that as many people say "you can be whatever you want" it won't matter because you are incapable of things. Do you get what I'm saying?
