I like a guy, but he's 12 years older than me

So yeah, I found a guy, haven't met him in person yet. I'm 18, he's 30. We have so much in common and the same sexual interests. He's really cute also.I'm just afraid of meeting him, I want to but I don't want anyone to stare. Is it normal to have a relationship with people way older than you? Should I go for it?
