Is being gay a choice?

Hey i was having a debate at school with my classmates, and the discussion of homosexuality came up, I stated Homosexuality is not a choice, to which everyone went bat shit at me and said it is. I asked a gay person in class and he said it is, My point in coming to this subreddit was to get more insight from more gay people to see if, it's a choice or if it's not. My main argument was you cannot choose sexuality. I would really enjoy some opinions on this matter from more than 1 gay person.
