New to Grindr. Guidelines (safety, etiquette, etc)?

I made a Grindr account the other day and am really surprised by all the attention I'm getting. Some cute guys want to meet up, and I'm just not sure what the smart/right way is to go about it. It is OK to to ask them to be explicit about what they have in mind if/when we meet? I'm awkward. HALP!
