[Help] Cure the homophobe

While yes sometimes I feel like I was born as the wrong gender and feel like I'm in love with the same gender like that I also feel like being gay is a sin against god and a mental illness that can be cured. I also hear bad stories about gay people and most of them having aids.How can I stop feeling like this?
