I need dating advice.

I'm 19 male and bisexual. I knew I was bisexual since I was 14 or so but never really tried to date guys because I didn't want to get picked on in school. Now I'm out of school and want to date who I want man or women. But I have gay friends and they are telling me that dating a male is totally different then dating a women. So what is the differences?
