Advice please!

Hey, So I have been talking to this guy off tinder since August. We've been talking pretty much everyday but only have met up a couple of times due to us both being so busy. While we both like each other, due to being at uni and exams, we decided to stay as "friends who like each other" and put off dating.We are both still on dating apps but are more or less only talking to each other, but again, we aren't monogamous. However when asking about a hookup, he realised I was getting a bit hurt and said that if I wanted to date I should say so. Butecently he's been less talkative and responsive when chatting but is still keen to meet up and all that jazz. I'm just getting worried he's becoming less interested. I also feel like he's becoming put off by my clinginess. I really like him, but I'm not sure how to approach the topic of dating and where we stand. Any advice? Sorry for the long post!
