How gay-friendly is Paris and the surrounding towns/cities?

Asking because I’ll be moving to a place near Paris and I was wondering. How gay friendly is the city? I’m from Mexico and I’ve heard that it is quite friendly, but there can be, like in any other place, cases of people being kind of hostile towards the LGBT community. I specially want to know about the safety level of Nanterre and Beauchamp, which are places I’ll be going to a lot. I'm going for a year to study and I really want this to be an awesome experience.
