Why do straight people freak out when you find out you are gay?

Even if you have been friends for 5+ years everyone treats you different. No matter how much they say it doesnt matter, they still act like its some big deal even if you didn't "Come out" Delete if in wrong thread but wondering if anyone else went through it.
