I have a crush and I don't know if he's gay

So I have been crushing on a guy in my class. We hadn't been speaking very much, but he seems straight to me, though I get some vibes from him. I have caught him looking at me quite a lot and when I looked at him he either looked away or kept looking in my eyes for a few seconds forcing me to look away because I felt uncomfortable. Even when he speaks with his friends he does this. Once, at the gym I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and he was right behind me and when I turned around he pulled out his phone and didn't say anything. Could he be gay or my gaydar is broken? 😅
