Meeting People and making friends

I’m from Cape Town, and although it’s known to be a very Gay friendly city, I don’t know how to meet gay people. For context, I’m in the closet, and only admitted to myself that I was gay a few months ago.I am not sure what to do, but I thought it would be good to go on a date (my first one in my 24 years of life). Or just to go out for coffee and make friends with gay people, just so that I can start feeling that it’s okay to be gay.
