Non-dating apps?

A few years back I moved countries after my boyfriend and now we're going through a break up. We're both dealing with it surprisingly well and treat each other with kindness. Long story but during those years we've been together pretty much all the time.. Being an immigrant I didn't really make much of my own friends here that weren't his. This is starting to sound weepy and that's really not the intention here.I don't really want to date or hook up right now. I just want to connect with people and start building a place for myself in here instead of diving into sexual adventures.So I tried a few apps and didn't have much luck. They are for dating so people expect very specific type of responses. It's all fine but not what I've been looking for. Are there any apps that are not exclusively for dating or hook ups? I know I can try anything and there will be people with similar 'aim' to mine but I don't think I will find that on grindr ;). Any other recommendations?I've been also trying to check out local meetups. I think I have a good shot there.Thanks!
