How concerned should we be for marriage?

We all are aware the political situation in the US is rapidly becoming very unwelcoming to LGBT people here.How worried should my boyfriend and I be about marriage equality being taken away? I try to follow the news religiously and eclectically but nobody can keep up.If you can cite sources that would be great.We'd simply like the same right to dither and get married in our own time.
