An honest question for children of gay parents (re: 13 Reasons Why)

This post contains basic spoilers for characters in 13 Reasons Why. If you haven't seen it and want to, don't read the post. The character Courtney makes a statement that, to me, seems bizarre. She claimed that she had to keep her homosexuality secret because of her gay dads.I'm aware that it used to be a commonly-held-belief that two gay parents would make their children gay and I guess this could be related to that line of thought.Courtney is a popular girl, well liked for who she seemed to be. There were at least two gay teenagers in the extended circle. The people at school, nor her parents, would have had any problem with her homosexuality. So my question is: Have you ever felt like people [that know you have gay parents] expect you to be gay? I'm not saying you will, or won't, end up of any particular orientation. I know it doesn't work that way.I've always just wondered how practical that story thread and motivation really was.
