Is there anyone here that move to another country because your origin country is homophobic?

I'm 17, gay and living in Malaysia. We have laws regarding homosexuality which leads to imprisonment. Is there anyone that fled their country in search of sexual liberty? I would love to know how you got there and hear your stories :)
