How I feel

So me and my bf have been together for over a month but I feel like I'm putting more effort into the relationship. So I'm 17 and he is soon to be 16. I feel like this because when I go see him ( he lives an hour away) he always wants to go to a friend's with me or something. He doesn't help pay for gas but I also would feel bad to ask him to help pay. When we r together he is always on his phone and when we r apart he doesn't try to keep the conversation going. He says that I mean everything to him. He didn't want to lose me and I really don't want to lose him either but it just irritates me. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't really care about me and just wants nothing to do with me.
