Looking for Music Recommendations for a Story I'm Writing

I'm writing a story that features a gay couple, and I'd like to add in a few references to music, but I don't know a lot about what was popular around that time.Here are the relevant details:The story takes place at UCLA during the 1990-91 school year, and continues into the next few years after that.The two boys are around 21-22 years old. One of them has been out for at least a few years already, and is pretty confident in his sexuality (he's also Mexican, so he's likely been exposed to a lot of Latin music). The other one is only just beginning to come to terms with being gay.What are some songs that were popular around that time, for that age demographic, that these guys might have listened to while trying to figure out their sexuality and navigate their feelings for each other?Also, after college, they decide to get married (they have a ceremony just for symbolic purposes, since gay marriage wasn't legal yet).
