Gay friendly holiday locations?

Husband and I are looking to take our first summer holiday together and wanted some advice as to good gay friendly locations to go to.Not looking for places with busy gay scenes or anything. Just somewhere we'll feel safe. Of course we won't be holding hands or kissing in public in an unfamiliar country. So any nice locations worldwide you would recommend?
