Gary Russell Jr. vs. Johnny Gonzales: Fight Thread

Gary "T-rex" Russell Jr. vs Johnny "Bravo" Gonzales

This is the match-up that boxing fans have been clamoring for, and tonight Al Haymon is going to deliver. Russell has never been in better shape and tonight he finally takes on the most dangerous competitor in the featherweight division, Johnny "Bravo" Gonazales. Go to r/boxing if you want to read some bullshit made up stats and round-by-round coverage by the most biased Gary Russell fans in the world. Read on for the real story of Russell Jr. and Gonzales.

Gary "T-rex" Russell Jr.

Gay Russell is the second coming of Boy Jones Junior, and this is his coming-out party, and if his past performances are anything to go by, he is going to be coming on Gonzales hard tonight. 2014 saw Gary take on the most dangerous opponent at 126 lbs, Victor Lomachenko, and he performed amazing, hurting Lomachenko numerous times on the way to a 12-round thrashing. But as happens too often in boxing, LomaCHEATko (he was wearing his Olympic gold medals and the extra weight helped him avoid being knocked out) got the nod, when really, the ref should have waved it off.

Even with his short, T-rexesque wingspan of 32 inches, Russell was raining dangerous punches all night long, making Lomachenko appear to be a featherweight version of professional punching-bad, Yoshihiro Kamegai, who also was trounced hard that night. Expect a similar performance this evening, the only difference is that Johnny Gonazales does not have Olympic medals around his neck and he will get knocked out solid before the sixth round by a staggering volley of T-rex punches, if I am on point.

Johnny "Bravo" Gonazales

Gonazales is a cool operator with a nice beard and piercing hawk-like eyes. Actually I know next to nothing about this man. Only fighter I've ever watched at 126 is Lomachenko. Doesn't really matter because Russell Jr. is going to score several knockdowns on his way toa sixth-round knockout. And that will be the last we ever need to hear about Johnny Bravo.

Prediction

Gary Russell Jr. by a hard knockout in round 6.
