should i come out?

I'm a 17 year old African-American from Compton, and I have recently accepted the fact that I am gay and have a thing for men.but the problem is I can't be secretive about this my whole life and I want to come out at some point but I don't know how everyone else would react to this since I'm from the "hood" and word would get around fast. So my question is should I come out now, or just wait until maybe I'm out of the hood?
