Confessing?

I'm currently living with a friend that has taken me in after I've experienced a long run of hardships. He's always been a kind, generous person. When someone at work is having car trouble he'll offer to carpool for them, he'll offer to get stuck with overtime so someone else can go home on time, and when my dad died and I couldn't afford rent he gave me a place to stay for free. In the months I've been living with him I've fallen for him hard. He's one of the best friends I've ever had and I want our relationship to take the next step. But he's very hard to read most of the time and he's very tightlipped about his romantic preferences, which makes it hard to bring up.He seems so lonely most of the time and i just want to make him happy
