Being gay in anti-gay country

Hey, I come from Indonesia. There is a systematic attack towards Gay people here since 2017, gay spa house/hotel getting raided, transgenders people getting publicly humiliated, and all of those sour stories. Gay is not illegal here. But soon, our parliament is going to pass a draft bill of Penal Code that has a provision to criminalize same-sex relations.I'm thinking to look for a job and move to another country after they passed that bill. Anyone has an experience like that? Moving abroad to be as free as who you are. Is it the best thing to do? Since I really still want to be close with my family. I've been living abroad for years, and getting separated with family sucks.
