Shaving legs...yes/no, tips?

The backstory to this is my boyfriend is away and will be home just in time for my birthday at the end of the month. I wanted to do something nice for him and shave my legs. I'm what you would call, more masculine and manly. We're pretty versatile and all that, but I wanted to try something different and he has expressed interest in seeing what it would look like on me too.So... tips? what kind of razor should I buy? aftercare tips to avoid razor burn and irritation etc... I was looking at women's razors specifically for shaving legs, and was going to go with that. Do I go against the grain or with it?Anything is appreciated !
