I got really bored and came out to a male friend via text. He hasn't seen the text yet, and I'm having second thoughts. Will not deleting the text be good for me in the long run?

I don't chat much with the guy, because he's popular and I'm a gamer, but I want to be friends(or more) and I'm afraid this might make being friends weird in the future. Do I delete the text before he sees it and tell him when we're closer?
