How did you become comfortable with bringing home a same-sex partner to your parents?

A few days ago my mom told me that she's happy as long as I'm happy. It was nice and all, but I'm just not comfortable with her knowing about my sexuality and the thought of bringing home a girl to meet her freaks me out. I don't know if I could ever do it. How did you? If ever.
