Military

I'm joining the Navy in a few months and I'm still (mostly) closeted. I've come out to two friends of mine who took it with open arms. Has anyone here been in the military? If so, were you open about yourself or did you just keep it a secret until you got out? I'm worried about spending the next 6-12 years of my life closeted. Also I'm thinking about trying out for special forces and I wouldn't want this to affect that at all.
