Why do you think people hate smartwatches so much?

I think it's because it's something new, combined with the fact that it has to do with fashion. People don't want to accept new technology, especially not new technology that you wear, because it "makes you look gay" or some other fake reason.

Take this Skype conversation I had with my friend for example (sorry for the harsh language I used; I tend to change my mannerisms to fit who I'm talking to). He says that smartwatches are pointless, then he says he didn't even know that much about them, then after learning more about them, he finds new reasons to hate them (apparently because they're "lazy"). People think just because it's called "smart"watch, it has to be a life-changing piece of technology, like how smartphones were, when it reality, it's supposed to make life a little easier and make you more sociable because you aren't looking at your phone as much.

That's what I think, but what does r/pebble think about it?
